The biggest challenge that modern dry cleaning/laundry stores face is loss of cloths. Cloth may get lost either due to wrongly delivered to another person, employee pilferage or mishandling. A typical dry cleaning business, on an average, looses something between Rs 20,000 – 30,000 annually due to wrong deliveries or loss of cloth. By far this is the biggest challenge dry cleaners face today and find it difficult to solve with the traditional processes.

The key to avoid such happening is to employ better techniques to track the cloth at every stage. Considering the life cycle of dry cleaning process of any cloth, it goes through many processes and many hands before it finally gets delivered to the customer. The counter person accepts it from the customer, and then it is tagged, sent to the workshop for processing, processed, sent back to the collection center/store, placed on the correct rack, finally delivered to the client. The idea is to track the cloth at every stage and identify the ownership. This can be achieved with the help of technology.
This problem can be solved by using Dry Cleaning shop management software or any POS software for dry cleaning industry along with the bar code scanner/readers. As soon as the cloth is received, a unique bar coded tag is attached to it. Now whenever and wherever the cloth is moved it is always scanned using the bar code scanner and its details are maintained in the computer. At any point in time the information can be retrieved to track the cloth. For example, when the cloth is moved to the workshop for processing, it is scanned and details are fed into computer that the particular cloth is being moved from store to the workshop and who is carrying the cloth. The bar code helps the scanner to register the current state, location and current owner of the cloth into the software. Similarly, the cloth is scanned when it is received back at the store after the processing. It is then placed into specific rack. Biggest advantage of scanner is felt at the time of delivery. Before handling over the cloths back to customers, the system automatically gives an alert in case the wrong cloth is getting delivered to the cloth.

One of the best products to eradicate the problem of wrong deliveries and loss of cloths in a dry Cleaning shop is Quick Dry Cleaning Software. The software is for Dry Cleaning and Laundry businesses and offers seamless integration with bar code printers and readers/scanners. The product also offers functionalities like invoicing, challan or delivery note creation, delivery, customer details management, accounts management, stock management along with SMS and Email capabilities.
